I'm Carol, the owner of Ecoprintaus, I love eco printing and my son Tommy is a whiz at natural dyeing. I live in Lennox Head, Australia and Tommy and his family live at Tamborine Mountain where we have a small shop.

The thing I love most about eco printing and natural dyeing is the alchemy - the way science, nature and art come together to make magic. I'm also quite turned off by synthetic everything; plastic, textiles in landfill, and the toxicity of chemicals in the textile industry, where dyes and chemicals pollute waterways in less fortunate countries. If I could make a small contribution to improving that I would be happy.

I've dabbled in sewing and knitting and eco printing. Just as I was beginning to get interested in weaving with Australian native plants, I noticed that my hands weren't working properly. Soon I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Now eco printing is the only craft I can do comfortably. It's OK, it's more than enough.

I had to give up work in 2023. I was a GP and I specialised in forensic medicine, which is a specialty dealing with child protection and violence against women. As I'm writing this I'm looking at an old textbook on my desk. It's stuffed with flowers that I'm pressing between the pages. It feels like a new beginning.

Tommy & I believe that arts & crafts should have some connection and meaning for you, the artist. Even if it's just to enhance our connection to nature.
