When will my order arrive?

Items are shipped on the first business day following receipt of the order. Standard Australia Post delivery times apply (usually 3 – 5 business days) and can be checked on the Australia Post website delivery time calculator. The items will be shipped from Tamborine Mountain, Qld

How do I dispose of the iron and alum water?

Tip them onto the ground outside. Alum can go into a municipal sewage system, but not a septic system.

Are iron and alum toxic?

Iron and alum should be kept out of reach of children. They are not to be eaten and are toxic in overdose. Both iron and alum can cause significant eye irritation. Use gloves when handling them and wash your hands afterwards so that you don’t rub them into your eyes.

Iron (ferrous sulphate) is present naturally in the environment and is the ingredient in iron supplement tablets. Alum (potassium aluminium sulphate) is used as an astringent and anti-perspirant. At Australian Natives Print Party we have sourced pure alum and iron in crystalline form (i.e. the binding agents look like salt). The alternative is to use them as a powder, which carries the risk of inhalation of the powder, and possible accidental eye contamination. The crystalline form cannot be inhaled and is safer and easier to use.
