This is our signature kit containing everything needed to explore the world of eco printing as an absolute beginner. The kit contains instructions, tools and dye binding agents (also known as mordants). In addition, you will also receive a selection of silk items and a starter pack of dried botanicals. This unique kit is the answer to the question 'how do I get started with eco printing?' This kit brings all the elements together at a fraction of the cost of assembling the material yourself.
Why silk? Some materials are easier to work with than others. Silk is an excellent place to start because it takes botanical dyes easily and produces finely detailed prints. Start with silk before you use the kit to move on to more difficult fabrics, such as cotton and linen.
Eco printing (also known as botanical printing) is the art of delicately pressing leaves and flowers onto fabric and using steam to imprint the material with botanical designs.
Eco printing can be used to create fashion items, gifts and home furnishings using natural fabrics such as silk, linen and bamboo. Cotton, polycotton, rayon and Tencel can also be used. When you open your first steam bundle and see the magic you have created, you will be amazed.
The kit contains
- 3 silk practice pieces, 1 small silk habotai scarf and 1 silk Twilly
- A starter pack of dye flowers, eucalyptus baby blue, rose petals and rose leaves
- A user friendly instruction booklet.
- Access to subscriber content on our website, including demonstration videos.
- Precise instructions for three beginner friendly projects. Once you have chosen your project, follow the instructions to decorate your chosen item.
- A flexible tube for rolling your bundle. ** Note this is a half size tube suitable for the small silk pieces in the kit.
- A steaming rack to insert into the pot to keep the bundle away from direct heat.
- Gloves, a steaming bag, an elastic bandage, a plastic barrier sheet.
- Iron and alum binding agents (mordants).
You will also need:
- A medium to large cooking pot (minimum 20cm diameter)
- A bowl of water
Good luck with your eco-printing! Check out the add-on items available for your future projects, and check our socials for inspiration.

I haven’t used it yet. Busy with a husband on palliative care. It looks beautiful and I’m saving it for that rainy day. Thankyou for the extra silk and I’ll be having a look at that video with great interest.
